Good Non Government Organization (NGO) has established to bring change in the development perspective of the country. After independence thousands of Non Government Organizations establishing to bring positive change in the society through improving social, cultural, economic and environmental status of the people of the country. The NGOs main focus in to bring positive change in the lives of the poor people irrespective of caste, creed, culture, religion, ethnicity and age. In doing this the non government organization’s require some basic qualities and competencies. The necessary qualities and competencies are as follows:
Financial management is a major operational requirement of a non government organization. To manage the finances of the non government organization it is necessary to maintain many types of books and documents like ledger books like general ledger, subsidiary ledger, cash books, petty cash book, store register etc. Further, the organizations need to prepare financial statements and reports like receipts & payment accounts, income & expenditure accounts, balance sheet, cash flow forecasting and any financial emergency financial report as required by the organization and donors. To manage the finances and accounts the organization there should have well written financial manual.
Again, the organization should have a sound administrative management system like logistic management, vehicle management, procurement etc. For effective administrative system there should have a administrative management policy.
How the organization will manage the staff and personnel involved in the organization? All policy and procedures need have in a organization like staff structure, position, category of staff, benefit of staff, leave system, maternity and paternity leave, accident benefit, transfer, dismissal, termination and staff recruitment. So, each organization should have a personnel policy or service rule.
Human development should be the key concern for all the organization to ensure to quality of work. To develop the staff a system be in place. So, the organization should have a Human Resource Development policy.
Gender is also concern for each of the organization for each of the organization to ensure equal development for men and women. The gender justice must have be ensured through reducing all form of violence and discrimination. To do this effectively, each organization have develop a gender policy.
In each organization generally have a lot of program in operation. For each of the program there should have a operation manual for each of the program.
Reporting is the key requirement for the donor and counterpart for accountability and transparency. So, the organization should have a reporting mechanism.
Ensuring quality implementation should be the key concern of each organization. So, the organization should have monitoring and evaluation department as well as research section to review the progress and impact of the program activities and reveal the development perspective.
