It is reality that Bangladesh is a small country but densely populated. About 160 million people living in the small country. About half of the population are women and most of them are not in the good position. In the rural society the deprived, discriminated, undermined. Specially poor and hard core family they are usually become the victim of torture, repression, violence and injustice.
As a patriarchal society, the rural women have not rights to take decision in family and society. It is the rule of the society that male would be decision maker of the family as they are main earning member of the family. The women and girl are discriminated as well. The do not get respect in the family and society as the male members enjoy.
In a word the male member dominate the family and society. The women have no freedom to more here and there with the permission of the male member. Even, sometime if they try to get the permission, they do not get the permission.
The women of the rural society are not aware enough regarding their rights and dignity. The do not know the democratic principles and norms. Further, they do not know about the governance and rule of law. They have no authority to participate in community based development activities. These types get very little women who have no husband due to separated, divorced or no husband. But sometimes, the society become barrier of their movement.
In the society there exist early marriage. It is very surprising matter that the parents know that their daughter are not adult but if the get the chance , the give the daughter marriage through violating the rule of law. As a result, immature girls become the victim of ill health and suffer from various diseases.
Further, their exist polygamy, divorce and dowry provision. The dowry is a great problems in the rural society. In very little case, the marriage has been happening without dowry. The parents commit to provide dowry but in most cases the poor and hard poor parents fail to provide the dowry in time. As a result, the girls become the victim of torture and repression.
