The Problems of Extremely Vulnerable people can be reduced through Capacity Building on Income Generating Options

The development activists realized that the empowerment of the poor especially the women depend on the economic emancipation. Therefore, the organizations with a view to ensure the poverty alleviation and economic emancipation providing financial support to the beneficiaries working with but due to financial constraints the non government organizations generally fail to mitigate the training needs of the beneficiaries.

The non government organization needs to design this project for maximizing the development impact of its programs related to economic security of the poor participants or beneficiaries.

It is also remarkable that among the beneficiaries 30% people are minorities which includes Adibashi, Hindu, Christian and non-religions and they are deprived by the majorities and well off people.

However, some how most the beneficiaries able to mitigate the needs of the finances but they need training support to improve their existing skills or to make them involve in Income Generating Activities or Small Enterprises. But their demand has remained unmet due to financial constraints of the organizations. Considering the critical need and frequent demand (as assessed by the organization through conducting group discussions and FGD) of the beneficiaries the non government organization require to provide some training support to among the poor people and marginal farmers.

The identified problems were related to Knowledge base, Skills, Awareness, and Community participation. The proposed project is designed to address these areas of problem.


ACTIVITIES
To attain the desired impact the activities needs to be undertaken that may contribute to improve the Socio-economic security of the poor beneficiaries are the following:

Training: The planned trainings of the project are as follows:
a.    Staff Foundation Training
b.    Staff Workshop
c.    Cow fattening for the beneficiaries. The contents we identified through participatory process are as follows:
-    Problems of cow rearing in Bangladesh context
-    Identification of different varieties with characters.
-    Cow ( Milk Production) rearing system
-    Identifying the feasible cow (milk production) for this area.
-    Housing system considering the local context.
-    Feeding system with preparation (Para Napier grass culture system)
-    Disease identification and treatment system as well as causes of diseases.
-    Fattening of cow
-    Special care of calf.
-    Identifying the reproduction period (Hit period)
-    Importance of cow rearing.

Goat rearing: The content identified are as follows:
-    Identifying different goat
-    Characteristics of different goats.
-    Housing and feeding system
-    Disease and treatment system
-    Comparative Economic analysis of goat rearing based on time and investment (Cost margin analysis).

Poultry rearing: Contents of the poultry are:
Chicken:
-    Variety ( identification with characters, meat and egg purpose)
-    Main problems in Bangladesh context
-    Disease identification and treatment system ( especially vaccination system)
-    Housing system (Cage  system)
-    Feeding (variety wise)
                              Duck:
-    Variety ( identification with characters)
-    Main problems in Bangladesh context
-    Disease identification and treatment system ( especially vaccination)
-    Housing system
-    Feeding system ( variety wise)

Handicrafts ( Training need to be conducted trough hiring the resource person from the working areas)

Technical Assistance: The project or program will require to provide technical assistance to the beneficiaries involved in the Income Generating enterprises. The support may require to be provided on selection, planning and management for the enterprises.  At the time enterprise selection the staff of the project help the beneficiaries in conducting the general feasibility analysis considering the Marketing feasibility, Technical feasibility, Financial viability, Management capability and Social cost benefit analysis.

Providing Financial Support: The project will may require to conduct training with a view to improve the skills on a specific enterprise. To make the beneficiaries involved in the selected enterprise and use the skills and learning’s they must require financial support from the organizations. Therefore, the may have to provide financial support to beneficiaries through their existing savings and credit component of the organizations. (Revolving re

Internal exposure(cross) visit: Internal exposure/cross visit have to be organized for the beneficiaries to contribute to their learning level. During the project period best practices from the beneficiaries may have to be identified be project staff as well as by the management. So, the project must have to arrange exposure for the beneficiaries so that they can observe the success and best practices of other beneficiaries. This effort may enhance their learning.

Assistance in Marketing: At the time of training and technical assistance as well as during the meeting, workshop and sharing session the project must have to provide the marketing related information to the beneficiaries. Again, the staff of the project will help the beneficiaries in analyzing the demand and supply and provide information in relation to product, price, place and promotion. Furthermore, during group meeting and sharing session marketing channel may have to be discussed in a participatory manner and determine the channel jointly. The project staff and management help the beneficiaries in this regard to make the enterprise sustainable, viable as well as profitable.
