The Activities that can protect the rights of the street children

Curative Activities:
-    Establishing DIC: To protect the rights of the street children it needs to establish Drop in Center (DIC). One DIC should accommodation at least 50 children. It is also using a shelter house for the extreme vulnerable street children. Furthermore, in the DIC it should exist  open space for recreation and amusement for the children. The DIC based support should be the following:

DIC based specific activities are:

o    Drop in Center cum Night Shelter. 
 
o    Motivation and counseling

o    Food for 3 times in a day  

o    Recreation and Amusements

o    Reintegration with the family.
  
o    Rehabilitation, job replacement 

o    Education (non formal), health education.

o    Documenting life history

o    First aid and referral service. 

o    Providing dress

-    Establishing  Open Air Center: In order to provide education to the street children  it need to establish Open Air Center The specific activities under the Open Air Center may be the following:
      
o     Pre-primary Education (non-formal)

o    Motivation and counseling

o    Reintegration / rehabilitation to the family:

o    Recreation

o    Job placement (ensuring involvement in non hazardous job)

Preventive Activities:
-    Formation of Child Protection Council (CPC)
-    Organizing CPC meeting


-    Provided training and orientation
      The Rights based following Training Module/ case management guideline should exist in the organization.

•    Training Manual on Child Rights (Please see the Attachment-4)
•    Child Protection Policy (Committed to Protect the Rights of Children) Please see the Attachment -5)
•    Training on Street Children’s Rights (Please see the Attachment-6)
•    Counseling and Motivation Training Manual
•    Training Module on Child Psychology (Please see the Attachment-7) 
•    Training Manual on Teaching Strategies, Materials preparation and Use
•    Case Management Guideline (Committed to Protect the Rights of the Children)
•    Theatre for Development Training Module(child rights based drama)

 
-    Community meeting  and courtyard session for awareness raising: Any project must have to conduct community meeting and courtyard session with community people, community leaders,local government officials, religious leaders and share with the child rights issues with a view to make them aware and responsive in reducing the violence against children within the community.

-    Theatre for Development (TFD) and awareness raising
-    Folk song on local issues for awareness raising
-    Meeting with Community people, Teachers and local government officials
-    Grand Program (child fair)
-    Day observation
-    Declaration of child violence free ward
-    Media Campaign

It can be added here that the non government organization have considerable knowledge and understanding on the above activities can design and implement the project to protect the rights of the children.
